Is there hope for the battery industry in Norway?

This is up for debate in a post in Dagens Næringsliv written by our Chairman of the Board, Leiv L. Nergaard.

Over the last years, our experience is that is has become harder to rise capital from Norwegian investors for development of battery technology. After the bankruptcy of Morrow Batteries, the landscape has become even tougher.

Is it possible for remaining Norwegian battery tech companies to survive and maintain Norwegian ownership or should we give up on all battery initiatives?

In the DN-post, Leiv comments on the State`s involvement in building up the battery industry in Norway and the vision that “Batteries are the new oil”. In retrospect, one might ask if it was appropriate to communicate such expectations, and if the battery industry after all can be compared to the Norwegian oil adventure.
